How to Serve the Lord - Part 2

We serve God by serving men. Anyone too big to serve people cannot serve God. We work for God by working for men.

The commitment, loyalty and honour you have for men is exactly what you have for God. You can't serve God differently from how you serve men.

Matthew 25:40

[40]And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Get busy doing for men what you want to do for God and God will receive it as service done directly to him.

You can't go to heaven and do anything for God. If you want to do anything for Him just do it unto the brethren. The good done for the brethren is actually to Him.

When Saul was persecuting the brethren, Jesus appeared to him and asked him "why persecutest thou me?". Whatever we do to the brethren we are directly doing to Him. Paul persecuted Christians but Jesus said it's Him he is doing it to (Acts 9:4).

1 John 4:20

[20]If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Your love for the household of God is not different from your love for God. If you love the brethren then you love God and vice versa.

The acid test of our love for God is our love for the brethren. So singing love songs to God is nothing if you don't love the brethren.

The only time you sin against Christ directly is when you hurt another believer like you. That's how serious the matter is.

1 Corinthians 8:12

[12]But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

If hurting a believer is hurting Christ, it simply means serving a believer is serving Christ. As your service in the Church increases, that's how your service to God increases.

The local Church is where we serve people. Don't attend Church and watch how people serve. Find a place and serve there faithfully.

So the next time you say you're serving God, understand that it's men you're to serve. When you come early to Church so as to clean, arrange and make the hall comfortable for other brethren to enjoy the meeting, you're serving God.

Regular attendance to Church meetings is good but it's not serving God. Serving God is serving men in Church. You have to go beyond just attending and start doing something that benefits others.

See how David did God's will:

Acts 13:36

[36]For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

He did God's will by serving his generation. God's will is for you to serve the brethren. There's no greater service than giving yourself up to service to God's people.

As you give yourself in serving the brethren that's how others will also be serving you. We're to serve one another.

One thing God will never forget is your labour for the saints. Because it's advice done to Him. Its unrighteousness for Him to forget.

Hebrews 6:10

[10]For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Ministering to the saints is showing love to the name of God. It is why you can't lose your reward doing it.

You must not be found idle in the house of God. Make time to serve there. Give your best and your all. Do it as though you're actually doing it directly to God because actually that's what you're doing.

If you can satisfy your spouse sexually there is nothing they would not do for you, that young girl, that young guy that is about to take your spouse from you is only doing one thing, they are satisfying your spouse sexually. Know this and know peace.

WHY I STOPPED PAYING MY TITHES.

Stop paying my tithes was my personal decision based on the experience I had.

Growing up in a Christian family, I have kept the ordinances of giving and tithing since I was young.

My parents were ardent and generous givers to God's kingdom even to His servants.

Long story cut short, in my church where I have worshipped for over seven years now, I have been faithful in paying my tithes monthly ad at any other times I receive financial increase because that has been my practice since I was with my parents and in their church before moved to Lagos to start my present church.

Shortly after Covid '19, a friend introduced me to an international business opportunity and I put in my proposals. I was invited to defend the proposal in the US the company's international office in Washington to be precise and after about 6 months, I was offered the contracts back here in Nigeria.

By the grace of God, I made real money and my first tithe was 7 millions which I raised the cheque in favour of the church with the company name not known to the church.

In the space of about nine months, my total tithes to the church was well over 22 millions.

To my surprise, our pastor who was living in a 2 bedroom apartment moved to a 5 bedroom duplex in the same estate.

No only that, he got a new car Toyota Sequoia and also got his wife highlander.

I was really furious to seeing our pastor spending church money that way and I decided to never pay tithes to any church again.

I love the church and the messages and coupled with the relationship I have built in the church over the years. So,  I kept going to church.

My decision to stop paying tithes was never discussed with anybody because I believe that kingdom race is personal. I kept everything to myself.

But while preparing for our 2022 annual thanksgiving, I got a shock of my life.

The pastor before the sermon announced that the church is negotiating a parcel of land beside the church which was 4 plots in total and the land would be costing 80 millions.

Then, he asked the church administrator to come over to give the breakdown of the collections which spanned over a year. It was from March 2021 to November 2022.

All the tithes, offerings and other seeds given were accounted for.

To my greatest surprise, every member that drew cheque was mentioned and the amount.

When I heard XYZ integrated Services Company the company through which I paid the tithes before I stopped paying the tithes with the total of 22millions six hundred and fifty five thousand I became frozen, stiff. I was ashamed of myself.

The church accounted for over 120 million naira that day after all the salaries and over head have been deducted.

Then the pastor mounted the podium and said that the church will pay for the land for the expansion of the church.

I can't explain how tears 😭😭 rolled from my chicks to the point that the man who sat by my side asked if I was surprised about what the pastor mentioned. I can't remember what I told the man.

It was latter we discovered that the 5 bedroom duplex was arranged for the pastor by someone who pastor used to pray for. The man is not a church member but loved our pastor and asked him to look for a better ad befitting apartment.

We were later told that the man met with an agent who arranged the duplex for the pastor and he paid for 3 years straight that before it elapse, arrangements will be made to build him his own house.

The cars were also gifts from someone from overseas.

I respected and honoured our pastor the more and I vowed that all the tithes I didn't pay must be paid.

I then know that it is the Almighty God that truly provides for His anointed servants.

Truth be told, some men of God sometimes live fly-boyantly at the expense of their members but what I saw that day made me to have reservations and respect for some genuine men of God 

Incase you are in my shoe, don't let anything you don't understand makes you to stop serving and giving to your God in the church where you worship and serve God.

So, be wise...

Yours is to obey God and how the monies are being spent is between the pastor and God his caller.

Just be faithful in your own way.

I have repented and asked the Lord for forgiveness! My giving has increased because I can see the project the money is used for.

A ministry that will last for generations is that one that has disciples and not just members. They have sons and daughters and not just attendees. 

The true size of your ministry is measured by your disciples, not fans. Jesus had multitudes as followers but it was the disciples that took his ministry from where he left it to the whole world and it is still growing today. 

 

Your ministry is as strong as the men you've trained. It is as big as the men that have moved from members to partners. 

Your ability to move people in your Church from ordinary members to disciples is what will define the success and future of your ministry. If you fail here your ministry has no future. 

Mark 3:13-14

[13]And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

[14]And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

This was the early days of Jesus's ministry. He knew what it means and what it takes to build a successful and lasting ministry. He knew the quality of leaders he will be leaving behind will determine the future of what he came to do. 

Select amongst the bunch a few and start with them. You don't have to start with the whole Church. Start with some and grow it from there. 

It doesn't mean you should ignore others. Teach and preach to the others but you must have your own "12" disciples who are under your direct tutelage. 

The Pareto principle or the 80/20 rule, states that 80 percent of the results you make comes from 20 percent of the people. Focus on a few of your men and give them your all. They will be the pillar holding the ministry in the future.

Spend time and money with the ones you're training. Pour your life into them. Be a living example to them. They're the future of the Gospel work. 

2 Timothy 2:2

[2]And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

You can't train people virtually. You can't train people by proxy. They should always be around you. Keep them close and stay close to them. 

The ones who have stood the rigorous training and their life transformed are the ones qualified to be leaders.

Don't scout or shop for leaders, train them yourself. The ones you train yourself will always be more reliable and trusted to take the baton from you.

Jesus didn't automatically have faithful and loyal men. He didn't bring committed and dedicated men from heaven. He trained them himself. 

Training was important to him so he made it a priority. It was the first thing he began to do in his ministry on earth. 

He knew the future of his ministry will be defined by the caliber of people he has as leaders. 

Mark 3:13-14

[13]And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

[14]And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

It took him 3 years to raise his trusted leaders. What those 11 men did is what we're still enjoying today. 

You too can have such men. They're in your Church but it'll take deliberate efforts to raise them. 

Whatever the amount of time, effort and money put into raising committed, loyal and faithful men is never a waste. 

It's not cheap to train people but the gains thereof is massive. Invest in raising your workers and leaders. Be willing to make the required sacrifices. 

Patiently put in the time required and the future of God's work in your hand will be guaranteed. There's no future for any ministry without trained faithful and loyal men and women who have become burden bearers of the commission. 

Mega ministries are big because the burden of the ministry is rested on trained people. People who are baptized into the vision and spirit of the ministry. Men who have drank from the teachings and instructions of the leadership. These men will carry the ministry to the ends of the earth.

Why Follow a Pastor

Some folks today say they'll only follow God and not a Pastor and that sounds very spiritual to them.

They don't have any qualms following their professor or football star. It is not a big deal following a celebrity or religiously following instructions from an organization. The only problem is when it comes to the Church and a Pastor for that matter.

The truth is you can't follow God without following your Pastor. That's a rude shock to someone who has made up his mind to break the order God has set in the body of Christ.

See what a Pastor said in the Holy Bible:

1Cor. 11:2 (AMP) Pattern yourselves after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah).

Let's see same scripture in the NIV

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

Paul, the apostle was bold to tell his Church to follow him, pattern after him.

They were to follow him as he is following Christ. Imagine one of his members now saying Pastor Paul, I can't follow you. I only want to follow Christ.

Philippians 3:17

[17]Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

He told the whole Philippian Church to all follow him.

1 Corinthians 4:14-17

[14]I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

[15]For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

[16]Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Thats a Pastor talking to his members.

He called himself their father.

He demanded followership from them.

He sent a faithful son to go and remind them how to follow his ways as his children.

There are so many more scriptures all over your Holy Bible like this.

We have some bad pastors but we must never renegade the scriptures because of bad Pastors.

Paul the Thessalonian Church to also follow him.

2 Thessalonians 3:9

[9]Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

Peter reminded the leaders that they're examples to their flock.

1 Peter 5:3

[3]Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

The devil wants to build a wall between you and your Pastor so he can attack you.

When satan attacks Pastors he is actually against the people, not the Pastor actually. 

He knows the easiest way to get the people is by striking the shepherd and the sheep will scatter (Matt. 14:27).

Stop helping satan!

There are many scenario to the issues of adultery.

When the husband stops having sex with his wife there may be some reasons for it. 

Some married men are bisexual or are having erectile disfunction. If they are not into homosexual activities that reduces their desire for their wives. Some christian men are involved in this. Most are not easily suspected because you think they are having boys hangout, prayer meeting, ministry meetings.

As it affects men so does it affect women also. When you see singles in the church who don't have opposite sex as close friends because of the way people suspect theirselves in church settings. Even when girls sleep over with your daughter or the other way. You don't suspect easily. Some of this singles start their gay activities when single and hide and go into marriage.

What you called adultery is what they engage in.

 They are into sexual immorality, Pervasion and strange sexual activities.  

Some married people have sexual escapades when the sex frequency goes down at home when the couple say they are doing more waiting on the lord at home or on the mountain.

God is patient. He gives them long rope to repent of such and come clean. Some are into deep attachment to sex toys.

The funny thing is that most other men see your wife as a sex toy and other women see your husband  the same way. 

Christians lust... Whether you agree or not. The intensity is higher now in the days of social media usage. Most married people are into pornography at one point or the other. Truth is bitter.

Some have addiction to masturbation. No gender can be exonourated. Both sexes are guilty of this. Who does it more is not our focus here. Masturbation in marriage is adultery.

Matthew 5:28-29  (KJV)

 *but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her* *hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.* 

You can't masturbate without imagining things.

At her father's funeral the pastor's daughter (who was a prostitute) watched and listened as church members described all wonderful deeds done by the pastor of 10,000 capacity church and worldwide television ministry.

They spoke about his care, love, generosity, miracles, signs and wonders and tenderness when he was alive.

But after the funeral the daughter of the late pastor asked her siblings and her mother - who was that man those people were talking about at the funeral - is he the same man that raised us?

They must be telling lies. All the children including Jack (a drug addict) agreed that they were telling lies.

But their mother said they were not telling lies,

_YOUR FATHER WAS A GOOD PASTOR, BUT A BAD HUSBAND AND BAD FATHER,_

_HE GROOMED AND GREW THE CHURCH BUT LEFT HIS FAMILY GROANING._

_FIRE WAS IN HIS BONE TO WORK FOR GOD, BUT LOVE, AFFECTION AND INTIMACY WAS NEVER IN HIS MIND FOR HIS FAMILY,_

_I WAS HIS WIFE, CHURCH WAS HIS MISTRESS, HE LOVED THE MISTRESS AND ABANDONED HIS WIFE,_

_HE WON THE CHURCH BUT LOST HIS FAMILY, WHAT A SHAME!_

The children later wrote and placed on his tomb:

*DAD, YOU PASTORED AND NURTURED THEM BUT ABANDONED US,*

*DAD, YOU DID A LOT OF REVIVAL PROGRAMS BUT YOUR FAMILY IS NEVER REVIVED,*

*DAD, YOU COUNSELED THEM, BUT WE LIVED WITHOUT COUNSEL,*

*DAD, YOU WERE A SHEPHERD BUT WE LIVED WITHOUT A PASTURE, YOU SHOWED THEM LOVE, BUT WE LIVED IN THE DESERT OF AFFECTION.*

*DAD, YOU WERE A SUCCESSFUL PASTOR, COUNSELOR, BUT A TOTAL FAILURE AS A HUSBAND AND FATHER.*

*DAD, WE HARDLY KNOW THAT YOU ARE DEAD, BECAUSE YOU WERE NEVER THERE FOR US.*

*THIS ONE THING WE PROMISE YOU, WE WILL NEVER SERVE YOUR GOD.*

Nobody in life is excluded in participation in governance. It's a choice to restrict yourself to a certain level of government.

 The church is a government because of her peculiar function.

But the language used by ministers make government look like a circular language. Government is a biblical language because God started governments first. 

Isaiah 9:6

For a child has been born to us, a son given to us, *and the authority is upon his shoulder* , and the wondrous adviser, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, called his name, "the prince of peace."

Jesus came into the world and he exhibited and established a new type of government different from the levitical government. 

If Jesus is a government, then the church which is a body of Christ is a government.  The people must first see theirselves as a government.

Romans 13:1-5 NLT

Everyone must *submit to governing authorities* . For all authority *comes from God,* and those in positions of *authority have been placed there by God* . So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. 

For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? 

Do what is right, and they will honor you. *The authorities are God’s servants,* sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.

The main jist here is that the church is a government. It has authority over physical and spiritual territories.

So let all leaders see theirselves first as a government. Then they should find a way to include the church in the government of their cities.

*1 Corin. 7:*

1. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 

2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 

7. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. 

8. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 

29. But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; 

40. But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

*1 Corin. 9:*

4. Have we not power to eat and to drink? 

5. Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? 

6. Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

The word lose or lost in the context of this lesson does not mean total vanishing out of sight or human existence.

One in every five families is a lost family with a serious feeling of total abandonment.

Many of our married men here In Nigeria and some married women, whenever they gain opportunity to travel abroad especially to Europe or America, ninety percent of them never come back to the wife, husband and children that they left back home with unfulfilled promise "that I'm coming back to take the family" only very few have been able to fulfill that promise.

Many as soon as they transit, in attempt to secure residential papers/citizenship they will forsake and forgot completely their family back home. They will shamelessly marry another man or woman in the name of residential papers. You may have made your gains but let me tell you in case if nobody has told you that you have sinned against your family and God. Worst of all some of those we knew here as good brethren, deacon and Deaconesses and clergymen and women also fall into this abomination with flimsy excuses whenever you confront them on why they do it? "Wisdom of man is foolishness before God Almighty"  A lot of PROFESSORS from different walks of life has lost their wives or husbands as the case maybe. In pursuit of knowledge, fame, honour and popularity. Some don't even ask of where their children are. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW THAT NOT EVERY MAN OR WOMAN THAT IS A MARRIAGE MATERIAL. YOU CAN BELIEVE IT OR NOT BUT THIS IS WHERE PRAYERS COMES IN.

The fundamental thing that we need to capture in the scriptures above is Apostles Paul and Banabas and indeed some others did not marry and yet they were fulfilled especially God's purpose in their lives. Few prophets and God's people in old testament did not get married and yet they fulfilled purpose.

It is better not to get married than to marry the one you will abandon at the middle of the sea and in the same vein it is better not to bring a child into the world than to give birth to a baby that you will left stranded at the middle of deep blue sea. May God help everyone of us to get his/her true life partner in Jesus' name. Shalom.

WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN/WOMAN, IF HE/SHE GAINS THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSES HIS/HER FAMILY Part 1

*Mark 8:36-37* 

36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 

37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

I hope you have no strange feeling about this topic, our Lord Jesus laid emphasis on a single soul but in a family there are more than one soul, so I'm laying emphasis on the entire souls that comprises a family. If you and I look to the right and left and all around us we will see so many families that have been forsaken because of one pursuit or the other. I sincerely desire that through this message, so many will retrace their steps and rediscover their families and fulfill their purpose for which the family stands for.

Many CEOs and other business tycoons has forsaken their families behind and went in pursuit of attempting to gain the whole world. No one can gain the whole world we can only gain it in part, so business man/woman please remember your family and returned to them, family is more profitable than whatever your position may be in life.

Many entertainers, music entertainers, movie entertainers, comedians and all their likes have forsaken their families in pursuit of fame, popularity in an attempt to gain the whole world and more money.

Many sports icons in an attempt to rule the world have forsaken their families behind and shuttling from place to place. I am not against that but they should learn to carry their families along because so many things have tied them together. Getting married to another man or another woman is not a solution, rediscover your family and carry them along in your pursuit to gain more fame, popularity and money.

it has been well said that many people are married to their work, business, profession, hobbies, instead of getting married to their wife and family. they spend more time with all the so-called colleagues and associates and come back home late in the night every now and then. It is quite difficult to see them at home, there is nothing you can give in exchange for your family.   Your name is upon your family, they carry your DNA and blood  so you can't escape from your family.

Worst of it all, so many preachers, Bishops, prophets Evangelists, General Overseers have forsaken their families all in the name of 

being committed unto the Lord. They want to be famous, popular and known all over the world. There's some of them who fast white 

 and blue fasting, green fasting, red fasting, and they're not at home, they're on top of one Bush mountain or the other. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights you can't see a concentrated fast in the Bible that is more than 40 days except the type that Nehemiah and Daniel engaged in that, they were breaking so why are you running away from your home. Many preachers have lost their homes and they continue to claim that their spiritual life is in order. God who created family knows that you are at fault, repent and return to your family. Your wife will not spoil your prayer, your children will not spoil your prayer  your family will not spoil your fast, it is a matter of being disciplined enough to what you are doing. There is no fasting you do in any mountain that you cannot do in your home. It requires simple agreement with other members of your family and they will respect you for that. 

 Stop abandoning your wife and your children in the name of you are seeking God- God did not get lost He remains where He is, you're losing your family. Do something about it today. May God help all of us in Jesus' name. Shalom.

What David Knew About Church Attendance

What did king David know about attending Church that we don't know but need to know? David knew that every single service you attend has a great impact on your life.

David was a powerful and wealthy King but he knew beyond any doubt that all his power and wealth is nothing compared to the benefits of attending Church for even one day.

He didn't allow his status to deceive him about the value of being in the house of God.

There are great benefits of attending Church!

Hear what king David said about Church attendance:

Psalms 84:10 NIV

10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

What he is saying is that he won't miss Church for any convenience or comfort. He prioritized Church attendance above anything else.

To some people, what David said here is the opposite for them. They prefer to stay long away from Church than to attend for even a few hours.

David was rich and powerful, so he didn't need anything. His attending Church was purely for the love of God.

Where God Makes Men

The local church is where God transforms purposeless lives. Not outside it.

Matthew 9:36

[36]But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

The above verse is the best description of christians who have rejected pastoral services over them.

We can only have compassion on them and still continue to help them come to the knowledge of the truth like Jesus did here.

Sometimes you can even be in the Church but yet you're still a sheep without a shepherd because you've not allowed your Pastor to lead you through his teachings and instructions.

One major way God leads us is through pastoral ministry. Rejecting it is rejecting God's will and work in your life.

There are things God can't do for you until you're part of a Church and submitted to its leadership. You can't truly grow spiritually without a local church. You can't become all God wants you to be without a local church.

The local church is God's factory on earth. It's where He is building men through the shepherd over each house (assembly).

Don't be in Church yet you're a sheep without a shepherd.
