CHURCH MANAGEMENT - Must I have a Pastor 1

Must I Have a Pastor - Part 1

There are things you can't do for yourself. A Pastor must do it for you. The one who created you made it so.

We can all read the Bible so why do we still need Pastors to teach us the Bible?

Pastoral work is not just about teaching. It encompasses a whole lot.

It's like saying that because I can read and write, I don't need to learn from anybody again. I don't even need a school anymore.

But beyond that, Pastors are specially chosen, tutored and equipped by the spirit of God to help teach you and raise you up into maturity.

Not every Christian has been chosen and equipped to function in such a way.

Now see what the scriptures say:

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

[12]And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
[13]And to esteem them very highly in love 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸'𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗲. And be at peace among yourselves.

Everyone must have a Pastor over them. You can't function maximally as a Christian without a Pastor over you.

Your Pastor is that man or woman labouring over you not that guest minister, not that Apostle or prophet across the secret or on social media.

The reason we're told to esteem our Pastors highly is because of their work. So there is a work they do that God sees as special and deserving of honour from those who enjoy the work.

If we can all do this work the Pastor does, why esteem them highly? If what they do is common and ordinary, why esteem them highly for it?

If we really don't need Pastors, why did God bother giving us one? Is God a busy-body?

Jeremiah 3:15

[15]And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

God will not give you something you don't need. He gave us Pastors because we need them. We can't do without them.

You need a Pastor because the work and labour he does for you and over you you cannot do for yourself.
