MY PERFECT MARRIAGE 2
THE BEGINNING…..
The first date was amazing and we met up a few times after that. He asked me to be his girlfriend few months later and I agreed. He proposed to me on my next birthday and I got caught up in the romance and said yes. Everyone was happy for me, everyone except my mother. I should’ve listened to her. She told me she didn’t see me having a future with Dennis but I was too in love to pay attention. What was there not to love; he was handsome, caring, rich and also God fearing. I highlighted these characteristics to my mom but she was still adamant but I ignored her and went on to marry him.
My wedding was very colorful and I had Dennis to thank, his sister was the only immediate family member who attended the wedding as his parents had died few years ago. Everything was going on well in my marriage till I found out I was living a lie.
Two years after my wedding and just a few months after my son was born, Dennis lost his job. It was a horrible period for us all especially my newborn baby. Dennis changed completely from a loving and understanding husband to a drunkard. Worst thing is, he didn’t want to have anything to do with God and often blamed Him for his current troubles. I tried my best as a wife to encourage and support him but he didn’t want help from everyone. I turned to his sister for help but she chased me away saying I was the cause of her brother’s problems. She told me she never liked me from the very first day but her brother was too stubborn to listen and now just few months after giving birth, her brother lost his job. I stood there listening to her spill all sorts of nonsense from her mouth but the moment she called my child a devil, I lost it. I yelled back at her and asked her not to involve my innocent son. What kind of mother would I be if I let another woman insult my child? I left her house angrily but was surprised at the sight that greeted me. Dennis was lying unconscious with a bottle of alcoholic wine beside him. My scream attracted the neighbors and we rushed him to the hospital.
