THE END OF THE MATTER……..
He was pronounced dead the minute we got to the hospital. I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears, I kept screaming “No! My husband cannot be dead, he can’t be dead, it’s impossible”. I couldn’t believe my son would grow up without a father and was now a widow at the age of 22.
It was just too soon, I asked God to tell him why he let my husband die but I got no reply. Worst part of it all was that Dennis sister accused me of being the cause of her brother’s death even though the doctor’s report showed that he died of heart attack. She gathered the villagers and turned them against me. I was called all sorts of names and my child was accused wrongly too.
We were thrown out of the house with nothing but our clothes, His family members took over his properties and cars. I was devastated and ready to give up but I looked at my son’s face and I knew I couldn’t leave him all alone.
I thank God for my family and the few friends who helped me get back on my feet. I actually expected my mother to say things like
“I told you so”, but all she did was help me take care of my child while I went in search of a job. I finally got one, a good paying job for that matter and I was able to take care of my son and everyone around me.
This story is for young girls out there. Do not be in a hurry to get married like I did. Take your time, get to know him very well and most especially, ask God for help. My mistake was not praying to God because I felt Dennis was a Christian like me. Do not make the same mistake as I did. Marriage is sacred and should last forever.
